Trump announces one of two additional debates will take place in Grand Rapids.
Following reports that former President Donald Trump had agreed to two additional presidential debates in September, he took to Truth Social on Sunday to share details about the locations and host networks, revealing that one of the debates would be held in Grand Rapids.
Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris had already agreed to a debate on September 10, though Trump had previously indicated he would not participate. Now, the former president claims that two more debates are scheduled for September 4 and September 25.
In his post, Trump stated that the September 4 debate would be hosted by Fox News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, while the September 25 debate would take place in Grand Rapids, hosted by NBC and moderated by Lester Holt. He mentioned that further details would be provided later.
Neither Fox News nor NBC have responded to requests for comment.
ABC Senior White House Correspondent Selina Wang previously posted on X that Harris would not agree to the September 4 debate and that any future debates would depend on Trump’s attendance at the September 10 debate. The Harris campaign expressed a willingness to discuss future dates but emphasized that any additional debates would be contingent on Trump showing up on September 10.
“We are open to another debate, and we’ll continue those conversations. But to be clear, any additional debate would be subject to Trump actually showing up on September 10. We’re not playing his games,” the Harris campaign said in an email to the Advance after publication.
